The Koti are a coastal and island people living in the coastal city of Angoche and in the archipelago off-shore. They are skilled sea-farers and fishermen.

There has been a Catholic presence in this area since the 1800’s and an evangelical faith since 1982. This group already have at least some scripture publications in their language, but are now wanting a poetic translation of the Psalms.

Louisa

When I opened the Psalms to read I saw them before as a reading, but not as a song.  Thank you for coming to teach us how to make them into music.

Esposa

Before, we could only read the psalms in Portuguese. That was very difficult! We were encouraged, even our children, to praise the Lord in eKoti.

Atija

We thought we were only allowed to use the piano in church. We are learning that we can use any instrument to worship God! (From Pss 149 and 150)
